1.1 Basic Mechanical Skill Course


Objectives


After the completion of this course the trainees will independently be able to
  • Identify and understand the construction plant/equipment and vehicle type, general usage, its components and parts and fitting of ground engaging tools for construction work
  • Perform measurement by different measuring tools, instruments/gauges, identify common workshop equipment and tools for heavy equipment and vehicle.
  • Uses of files, chisels, taps & dies, drilling and grinding m/c
  • Perform Gas welding/cutting techniques and Arc welding techniques
  • Identify and understand different type of fasteners, bearing, seals and gaskets used in automotive vehicle.
  • Understand the basic auto -electric principles, battery technology and starting, charging and lighting systems
  • Understand basic tyre size, inflation pressure, tread type and carryout tyre repair works
  • Carryout plant and vehicle servicing
  • Select proper types of lubricant and filter used in different plants and vehicles.
